Dearest Mother -
        No, I haven’t measles or anything else although there are between two hundred and fifty and three hundred cases of contagious diseases in Poughkeepsie, and we’re not supposed to go ‘down-town. But I just wanted to warn you that I’m going to ask if Evelyn may come back with
me Friday afternoon, likewise yourself - and, if you think best, Margery and Grandma. The ice carnival will be Friday evening, or if it does things such as rain, snow, etc. - Saturday evening. I do want so much to have you see it, especially since I’m going to lead it. My partner in the Grand March will be Jeanetter Roequick - Evelyn knows her - the girl I call “John” whose picture I have - rooms next door to me. She’s a marvelous skater . So much for that.
        Exams begin the 26th and I’m through, i.e. I’ve taken my last by Thursday so I’ll be home around the usual time I suppose. Kat Bassett is going to spend the week-end with me - she’s the girl that wanted
to come up from Baltimore Christmas week and couldn’t - and Gretchen Thayer will probably be out for one night. She was coming for all semester’s week-end but a multiplicity of engagements, and other friends prevents - so I am bringing nice fat old Nat. instead. I have just quarts to do over this week-end - some necessary


type-writing, a call at Carnegie Hall on business etc. etc. ad infinitum.
        Well, that’s really all I have special to say - the skating is slick. Betty Walter has just been in to ask me to save her a skate, you know we make out cards just like dance-orders.
