[Mar. 2, 1914] 306 Main Hall, V.C. Poughkeepsie - Mother, dear - You’ll probably see in the paper (if you look) so I might as well tell you I broke the record at Indoor Track meet for Swing Jump. It was seven feet, 1 ⅛ inches - and I went seven feet 5 1/2in. [Lower left corner - Illustration of person holding onto rings and swinging over a fence with the following labels…] Rings… I… standard… When I reached here Friday, I went right over to the gym and practiced up a bit, so that most of the lameness was gone out of my muscles (that is not mustache - it’s M U S C L E S.)[up arrow written above the word “muscles”] Alumnae Play Sat. evening was fine. Inez Mulholland had the leading part in “Nance Oldfield” and was splendid! My Glee Club did very well, and I was mighty proud of them. Today being Town Time-day, and consequently - no chapel - I haven’t been out at all - it’s a howling storm - I suppose you’re having it, too - My little northern exposure room gets a bit chilly at times - but I’m not suffering! Freddie came up for breakfast this a.m. We had grape-fruit, real cocoa, and [cannied] cherries plus some college-rolls one of the girls brought us. I still have German to do - so bye-bye, am practicing like the “doose” these days - oh! The pursuit of music is no idle dream!
