WILLIAM BUCK DWIGHT 1833 - 1906 The Committee appointed September 24, to draw up resolutions regarding the death of Professor Dwight presented the following: Whereas: William Buck Dwight, whose death occurred on August 29, 1906, has been identified with Vassar College as Professor of Geology and Mineralogy for twenty-eight years, serving the College with loyalty, enthusiasm and efficiency, and Whereas: by admirable traits of character as an in- structor and as a man, he maintained the trustful respect of his pupils, the sincere regard of his as- sociates, and the confidence of all who have been most deeply interested in the welfare of this in- stitution, therefore Resolved: that we, the Faculty of Vassar College here- by testify our appreciation of the character and work of Professor Dwight and our sorrow for the loss of an honored associate.
