Biographical Note
Alison Barstow Murphy, a 1935 graduate of Vassar College, was born in Brooklyn, NY. Her father was a naturalist on the staff of the American Museum of Natural History and her mother was a member of the Society of Woman Geographers. Alison accompanied her father on many of his expeditions and wrote accounts of their experiences. In 1930, G. P. Putnam published her book, Every Which Way in Ireland, illustrated with photographs taken by Alison and her family. It was part of Putnam's series of books written by and for young people.
