Biographical Note

A specialist in Italian Renaissance painting, Pamela Askew began teaching art history at Vassar in 1946 as a part-time instructor. She joined the faculty permanently in 1955 and continued to teach in the Art Department until her retirement in 1985. In addition to teaching, Askew served as curator of the Vassar College Art Gallery from 1956 to 1960. Born on February 2, 1925, she died on June 26, 1997.

Scope and Content Note

The Pamela Askew Papers contains lecture notes for art history courses taught at Vassar College, mainly Art 105 and Art 350. It also contains manuscripts, typescripts, correspondence, and research materials pertaining to Askew's scholarship on Domenico Fetti.
