Biographical Note
Born in 1852 in London, Timothy Cole is an American artist and engraver. In 1915, he designed a wood-engraving of the Vassar College Library based on a painting by his son, Alphaeus P. Cole. The engraving commemorated the 50th anniversary of Vassar College. Timothy Cole died in May, 1931 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Acquisition Information
Acquisition information relating to the Kimball materials in box 1 is currently unknown. Other correspondence in box 1 was removed from the Autograph File in June 2009. In 2012, the sonnet typescripts were removed from the Rare Book Collection, where they were cataloged with other Dewey material, The materials in boxes 2 and 3 were presumably transferred to Special Collections from the main library.
