Biographical Note
Alicia Craig Faxon (b. 1931- ), teacher, art historian, and critic, was graduated from Vassar in 1952. She studied history at Radcliffe on a Vassar fellowship and received a master's degree in 1953. In the same year she married Richard Bremer Faxon, an Episcopal clergyman. After teaching American history at the high-school and college level, Mrs. Faxon's interest turned to art history. She is an author and editor. Her works include Collecting Art on a Shoestring, Pre-Raphaelite Art in its European Context, Rossetti's Images of Botticelli and other publications. Throughout the 1970's Mrs. Faxon wrote on art for various Boston area publications, including the Boston Globe, and taught at the New England School of Art and the Massachusetts College of Art. She has served as a guest curator, trustee, and acting director of the Danforth Museum in Framingham. Alicia Craig Faxon received A Ph.D. in art history from Boston University in 1979.
