President Abram L. Sachar
Brandeis University,
Waltham, Massachusetts.

Dear President Sachar,

I should like to refer to the correspondence which the late Stephen S. Wise and myself had with you about a year ago.
My attention has now been called to statements which appeared in LOOK MAGAZINE of January 18, 1949 in an article “Brandeis University is Born.” I understand that offprints of this article were widely distributed.
If I am not mistaken, I sent you last year a photostatic copy of a letter which Professor Einstein addressed to Mr. S. R. Lazrus on July 19, 1947. Professor Einstein’s letter makes it obvious that the statements in LOOK MAGAZINE concerning Professor Einstein, Professor Laski and myself do not conform with the facts.
I am writing to ask whether you know who supplied LOOK MAGAZINE with the information upon which the article is based. I should also like to know what steps Brandeis University has taken to refute the false statements which were made. I cannot imagine that a university, and particularly a Jewish-sponsored university, could be insensitive to utterly false statements about the conduct of Albert Einstein and to insinuations that he acted arbitrarily.
I should be glad to hear from you at your early convenience. Please have mail directed to my private address, 55 East 10th Street, New York 3, N. Y.
Cordially yours,
Otto Nathan
