Dear Mr. Nathan,
We’re sitting comfortably at the seaside and listening to the rolling of the ocean waves and are devouring our way, by the sweat of our brows, etc., through provisions that gentle hands have far too copiously stocked for us. You receive herewith the introductory letter to Brandeis. Please don’t be disappointed with his callous manners—he really is a splendid fellow.
The checks that have arrived up to now (about 1,350 dollars) came from Mr. Matz. We intend to cash them when the rest has arrived, or else right away and send a check to the Genevan committee. What’s the name and address of that committee? ‹To which bank should› What kind of check should I order? Should it be made out in dollars or Swiss fr.? I think it would be best if I went to the bank in Westerley, about 5 miles away, to take care of the business.

Wir sitzen gemütlich an der Meeresküste und hören das Rollen der Meereswogen und fressen uns im Schweisse unseres Angesichtes etc. durch Vorräte hindurch, die zarte Hände allzu üppig für uns aufgestapelt haben. Sie erhalten hier den Einführungsbrief an Brandeis. Seien Sie nicht enttäuscht über dessen lederne Formen—er ist doch ein prachtvoller Kerl.
Von Herrn Matz kamen die bisher eingelaufenen Cheks (etwa 1350 Dollar) Diese wollen wir einlösen, wenn der Rest noch eingetroffen ist, oder auch sogleich und einen Chek an das Genfer Comité senden. Welches ist der Name und die Adresse dieses Comite? ‹Auf welche Bank soll› Was für einen Chek soll ich verlangen? Soll er auf Dollars oder Schweizer Fr. lauten? Ich glaube, ich gehe am Besten zu der Bank in dem etwa 5 Meilen entfernten Westerley, um die Angelegenheit zu besorgen
