Dear Nathan,
Through Mr. Vladeck I received the sum of 2,545.– dollars as the financial result of a proverbs contest in the Jewish Daily Forward in order to provide for German emigrants. As I do not want to bear the responsibility for the appropriation alone, I am proposing to you, at Mr. Vladeck’s suggestion, that we both dispose of the money after reaching an agreement. If it is all right with you, we could set up a special account at your bank. I hope to be able to send you the money as soon as I have an affirmative answer from you.

Durch Herrn Vladeck habe ich als finanzielles Ergebnis eines Sprichwörter-Contestes im Jewish Daily Forward 2545.– Dollars bekommen, um zugunsten deutscher Emigranten darüber zu verfügen. Da ich für die Verwendung nicht allein die Verantwortung tragen will, proponiere ich Ihnen auf Herrn Vladecks Anregung hin, dass wir Beide nach Uebereinkunft über das Geld verfügen wollen. Wenn es Ihnen recht ist, könnten wir ein besonderes Konto auf Ihrer Bank errichten. Ich hoffe, Ihnen das Geld senden zu können, sobald ich von Ihnen zustimmende Antwort habe.
