Dear Professor Einstein:
How characteristic of you to write spontaneously and generously about another. I am grateful that you should have thought of me in connection with Professor Nathan’s difficulties. I can, of course, hold out no expectations that I shall be able to be of any help, but I can assure you that I am very eager to do what I can, and shall be alert in my efforts. One feels so impotent these days when men of such high worth as Professor Nathan ought to have opportunities for their learning and character laid open to them.
The by-products are usually the best, and so it was in regard to my Princeton visit. You can hardly realize what a deep pleasure it was for me to have had opportunities of ample talk with you.
Please give my respects to Mrs. Einstein.
With high regards,
Very sincerely yours,
Felix Frankfurter
Professor Albert Einstein
