Dear Father + Mother:
I woke up in the middle of the night with a terrific sore throat and this A.M. reveals in addition to the throat a bad cough + 100° fever. I have sent for the doctor but she hasn't come yet. The infirm. is over flowing, so I shall have to stay in my room. I am staying in bed & will take good care of myself.
4P.M. The nurses from the office came + took me to the Infirm at 9:30. I'm in the grippe ward with 3 other afflicted ones.
Dr. T. was in + remarked that - Stella Hamburger will be discouraged - She's a nice girl, but she thinks the sun rises and sets in [7?] - All of which lack of medication hasn't improved my throat any.
I still have almost 100 fever. My throat
I slept several hrs. this aft.
I am terribly disgusted with myself, but I can't do anything about it. Don't worry - I'll stay here till I'm better + take care of myself. Half the college has either grippe or terrible colds.
Helen took my watch home for me. I received [it] 4 or 5 days ago + it still [gains] a lot. Please send [Sam] for it + return it to [Grogan's] + tell them to keep it till it is fixed, or to say if they can't fix it.
Love,
Fannie
