Two events relating to the announcement of Frances Fergusson as the 9th President of Vassar College. The first segment includes the announcement by Chair of the Board of Trustees Mary Draper Janney (VC 1942), brief remarks by Fergusson, and scenes of her mingling with the crowd in the Villard Room, Main Building. President Virgina Smith was also present. [Sound for this segment cuts out about 15 minutes in.] The second segment (approx 19:00) is a press conference held later in the day in Mudd Chemistry Building. Fergusson was introduced by Vassar Press Secretary Dixie Sheridan (VC 1965).
