by Vassar College, went out of print in 1957, the Vas-
sar Cooperative Bookshop asked for permission to pub-
lish it again in honor of the Hundredth Anniversary of
Vassar College. The origin of this choral response is an
unsolved mystery. When George Coleman Gow came to
Vassar College in 1895 he found Peace I leave with you
firmly established. The arrangement then in use was not
satisfactory so he made the arrangement which has been
sung ever since by the Vassar College Choir under the
direction of
GEORGE COLEMAN GOW, Professor of Music, I 895-I 932
E. HAROLD GEER, Professor of Music, I 91 6-I 952
DONALD M. PEARSON, Associate Professor of Music, I946-
