Wednesday Mch 22.
Dearest daddykins
It was mighty nice of you to answer those questions for me and you don’t know what a help it was -- and you told me just the thing I wanted to know. Miss Salmon will be pleased I’m sure.
My gown came yesterday and also the dainty little hat that sister sent -- the go beautifully together. I’m sending you Mele Renggle’s bill and sister can send her a check. Then gown is perfect, doesn’t need any alterations, ans is simply bewitching, everybody says so.

I got a through ticket from here to Washington so I shan’t have to recheck my trunk in New York. Just think -- day after tomorrow I go. And before then I have to cram for a history examination tomorrow, get my regular lessons, and pack and get my hair washed and do some mending and do some errands down town -- oh me oh my it makes me weary to think of it!
Elsie has just been elected spade orator for the Junior class which means she will speechify for them on Class Day this June. She is so clever!

Sister’s account of the dinner with Henry James is too interesting for words. I’ve read it to everyone in sight and they are all thrilled
1 I should think she might feel “chesty.”
Well, I have seen the great Alton B Parker, have eaten in the same dining room with him not more than twenty feet away from him. He is a nice big clear fair haired blue eyed man. In announcing the decision on the debate he started out very well by saying that he realized that he had been chosen to do it because he was “a man of few words” having “overheard one of the young ladies say the [man] who announced the decision last year was awful -- he talked for half of an hour before he came to the point!” But what did the poor man do but get twisted and finally say the affirmative (Qui Vive) had won and then have to interrupt the applause of that society to say “No, I misspoke myself, it was the negative.” I felt sorry for him, but it was a strange mistake on his part of a judge I’ll admit.
Of course the seniors are pleased to death that T and M, the negative won.
The debate was on the same question on which I debated three weeks ago.
Goodbye
Oodles of love,
Peg.
