Sunday noon
Dearest Daddy
We were tickled to death to get your letter -- and such a good one as it was! You write splendid letters daddy. Until to day it has been very warm. I heard someone say yesterday that the thermometer was up to ninety, but to day it has been windy and cold. We went out for a long walk after breakfast and managed to get somewhat warm again.
Yesterday morning we went to Long Beach which is just beyond Brass Rocks

and gazed forth upon the briny deep in all its uproarious splendor. It was fine I tell you. There was a glorious big pile of rocks looking right out over the water like this.
I got sister up about four fifths of the way when presto -- she turned and fled -- almost turned athletic in her attempts to get away from a little snake that was wending its way peacefully along. It may have been a foot long and half an inch wide. I watched it for a few minutes and then proceeded on my way to assist May Louise.

This afternoon we are going over to the Mooreland to spy around
Well what do you think of the siege of cousin Amy, Lucile and Louise? I tell you but aunt Lide is mad; no wonder somebody was so especially anxious to come and escort aunt Lide from Indianapolis to Pendelton. Ah me! She cried and wildly waved her wooden leg.
There were stacks of people at the hotel for dinner to day. I suppose they come up from Boston to stay over Sunday. Everyone is very anxious about McKinley. I do so hope he will recover. We see all the easter

papers here and they have been very hopeful until this morning when the prospect seemed a little gloomy. I do so hope he will get well.
Sister and I are expecting to get another nice letter from you pretty soon now. Be good to yourself now and have a good time while we’re away. I am glad Mr and Mrs Mason came over. Has Mr Griffiths come home yet?
Well goodbye
With lots of love
Your daughter
Margaret.
Please excuse this writing, for this is the worst pen and ink I ever saw in my life.
