Sunday morning

Dearest dad,
I was so sorry to hear that sister had one of her nasty old headaches and I’ll be furious if she has any more, won’t you? I haven’t been doing anything much but study lately. I’ve sewed some and cleaned out my closet and put away the winter

clothes that I am no longer wearing, and this afternoon Polly and I and Mary Ballard are going for a long walk. It is a gorgeous day and we expect to have a fine time. Isn’t Douglass [Jillson] a terror! I wish he had been put in the work-house. I haven’t a particle of sympathy for him, and I’m not specially fond of his father, but I feel terribly sorry for Mrs
