Dear Mother -
This is a hectic life - I had a music-lesson with Miss [Sulling] today, and worked practically the whole hour on a lone six-measure group of that horrid little japanese etude I was playing at this summer. She laughed at me about three-quarters of the time, and said it did her heart good to see me have to really work on something. I’m glad she derived some amusement out of it, for I fear that another week of that beastly little piece will ruin my disposition forever and ever.
We had a very funny time in Ethics today. Prexy called on Anna Maria (Louisa Perrot Rose is the rest of her name) and thereby occasioned
Much mirth and hilarity. I’ll tell you about the funny things she said when I see you.
I’ve been working in the library all evening to get material from which to write a music-paper on the old German Meistersingers. It is a very interesting topic and I’ll send you a copy when I get it written if you care to read it.
As I write you, I’m endeavoring fairly also to think how to word notes to the unsuccessful candidates for glee club, and I can’t for the life of me think of a nice tactful mode of expression. I shall probably have to revert to a curt “Sorry, not wanted,” if I don't have a brilliant idea soon.
