Dear Maman -
        I suppose this time you’ve begun to wonder why I didn’t answer your card more promptly. Well, I hoped you’d res-read my letter and see that on the 4th page of the second sheet I did acknowledge with great joy the receipt of the hair. I sure was pleased to get it, too. I can’t 
just see why I haven’t heard from you about coming home, but perhaps it’s just as well, for I’m not at all sure now that I could - to say nothing of asking Glad. -  for I have a debate coming next week that I’ll have to work like a trooper on this week-end, I suppose
