31 May 1938 Dear Nathan, To my regret I cannot do Stephen Wise the favor, because I don’t want to meddle in the party dealings here and certainly do not consider the plebiscite campaign right. The day before yesterday, I discussed with Mr. Leidesdorf the financial management matter. He will take care of it all and distribute my riches in various banks, in case of a major bankruptcy.
