8 November 1937 Professor Dr. Otto Nathan 121 West Eleventh Str. New York City: Dear Nathan, I entirely approve of giving 100 dollars of the money, as there is a prospect of permanent assistance. I am much obliged for the efforts regarding my boy. However I would certainly not give him a recommendation to Governor Lehman, because I would consider that reprehensible protectionism. But the boy certainly should visit the pertinent specialty departments in New York State. He does have recommendations from good experts in the field and those recommendations are based on real assessment. Professor Moody at Princeton in particular exerted himself especially in this direction. Cordial regards, Yours, A. Einstein. 2 enclosures returned. [TLS. On embossed letterhead: “A.
