Michael Grüning Stralauer Allee 21 DDR-1017 Berlin Berlin, 18 May 1988 Einstein Archives Estate of Albert Einstein 24 Fifth Avenue New York, NY 10011 Dear Sir or Madam, Herewith I request that the photo offered under Number B 106 by the American Institute of Physics in the catalog “Images of Einstein” be made available to me. Due to the death of my friend Fritz Landshoff, who actually wanted to procure this photograph for me, I have unfortunately fallen behind schedule—and would be very grateful for the fastest possible delivery. This photo is meant to be included in a history of the Einstein House in Caputh, for which I basically received the initial idea from Margot Einstein, who provided me with contacts and access to source material. The publication consists of 3 homogeneous parts: the reminiscences of the architect Konrad Wachsmann, some letters and documents connected with Caputh, as well as recollections by Einstein’s guests in Caputh, resp., by persons who had an idea of the life led by the Einstein family in Caputh. I have made an agreement with the archive in Jerusalem that, upon completion of my work, I will make the drawings, audio documents, as well as previously unknown or new photos of the house available for the collection. In hopes that my request can quickly be met, I thank you for your efforts and remain, with kind regards, Respectfully, M. Grüning [TLS] M.
