The collection consists of correspondence, notes, diaries, and other material relating to and created by
Laura Brownell Collier (VC 1874), covering her time at Vassar and beyond.

the suffrage movement and local political issues. There are also materials relating
to her family, education and personal life. Formats include correspondence,
manuscripts, printed material, clippings, minutes, reports, notes, and
photographs.

Addresses and talks, including three radio scripts, 1940-1967; diary from a trip around the world in 1968 and the manuscript of her book based on her diary LIFE-BOAT NUMBER TWO; copies of her fiction and articles published in periodicals; and biographical information, including an inventory of her papers in the Mugar Library at Boston University

Includes correspondence, memoranda, clippings, articles, speeches, and press releases from Blanding's time at Vassar, including those concerning women's education, academic freedom, 1950's politics, her stand against Congressional investigation of Communist influence in education, her introduction to Adlai Stevenson on a radio program, and her 1962 statement on pre-marital sex and Vassar students.

Indians of the American Southwest including Pima, Zuni, Dakotas, Sioux, and
Shoshone, civil rights, and Japan and Japanese culture. Other items include her
published and unpublished poetry; grant proposals; correspondence, clippings, and
reports from field work, including her Mescalero trip, 1931-1932; and a draft of
Margaret Mead's .

Materials relating to Scottie Fitzgerald Smith's career as a journalist, her work for the Democratic Party, her personal life, and the maintenance of her parents' estates and legacies.

Includes musical manuscripts of Carreño and others, such as Edward Macdowell, Amy Beach and Teresita Carreño-Tagliapietra; literary manuscripts of Carreño; letters to and from Carreño and to and from Marta Milinowski, her biographer; and a variety of scrapbooks, diaries and other materials relating to Carreño's life and professional career; Among the correspondents are Frances Macdowell, Gioachino Rossini, Edward Grieg, and Ede Poldini. There are also many articles about Carreño and programs of her concerts.
