The Jean Webster Papers at the Vassar College Libraries Department of Special Collections are part of the McKinney Family Papers, a collection of papers from the Clemens, Moffett, Webster, and McKinney families. They were donated to Vassar College in 1977, along with the endowment of a chair in American Literature, in honor of Jean Webster. The donors are Jean McKinney Connor, daughter of Jean Webster and Glenn Ford McKinney, and her husband Ralph Connor, a former trustee of Vassar.

37 letters and 1 fragment to Mary Strong from Josephine Jewell (Dodge) while at Vassar; 8 letters and 1 fragment to Strong from Jewell while in Russia; and one letter and one fragment to Strong by Josephine's sister, Florence Jewell, describing social life and travel in Russia, where their father, Marshall Jewell, was U.S. Minister in St. Petersburg.

Correspondence, mostly from Dr. Margaret Stanley-Brown to her sister Ruth. The collection also includes letters to and from other family members.

There are also biographical materials, including correspondence and diaries, containing information about Whitney's family, intellectual pursuits, travels and other personal issues.

Letters from Ruth Cutler (VC 1912) to her family, and four letters from Elinor Prudden (also VC 1912), who traveled with Cutler. The letters document Cutler's travel by ship to France and her service there with the Red Cross. Prudden’s letters are to Cutler’s family describing the circumstances of Cutler’s death from pneumonia.
