War--Women's work

Correspondence, clippings, notes,
speeches, interviews, photographs, manuscript and published versions of her
writings, other publications, bibliographies, and copies of historic documents
pertaining to materials on women's history. There are also family letters and
photographs, biographical materials, and miscellaneous items relating to Vassar
College.

The bulk of these papers are letters to Clark from conscientious objectors and political prisoners sentenced under the Espionage Act and other legislation enacted during World War I, discussing their lives in prison, their philosophy on war and militarism, political issues, their legal cases, their families, lumberjack experiences, reaction to prison life, and current issues outside prison, 1922-1937. Some of the prisoners were Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) members arrested after labor disturbances in Centralia, Washington. Included are six letters from Ray Becker, 1922-1927, and 41 letters from Warren K. Billings, 1924-1937. Other items include pamphlets, poetry, clippings, and photographs as well as three notebooks from her time at Vassar, 1890-1891.

The Zimand papers primarily concern Gertrude Folks Zimand's work in France during World War I with the American Committee for Devastated France. There is additional biographical materials as well as items relating to her father, Homer Folks, Zimand's publications, and her work with the National Child Labor Committee. There is also a significant collection of material relating to Savel Zimand's work as a writer and journalist.

Correspondence, government
pamphlets, reports, posters, memoranda, financial records, brochures, and other
items relating to women's involvement in World War II activities including the armed
services, Red Cross work, college war councils, and raising bonds.
