movement of Chinese calligraphic lines described by Zhenzhong Qiu and the
philosophies of Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, I argue that the internal movement
of lines, as a concept in its own right, can be fused into the understanding of lines in
the world in an open ecology. This argument is further enriched by discussions on
Deleuze’s concept of the fold, where I demonstrate that the line and the fold are able
to transform into one another. The concept of the internal movement of lines,
eventually, is an lively image of the folding and unfolding of life and its multiplicity.
