Dear Mr. Niles:
Rabbi Stephen S. Wise has forwarded to me your letter of April 2nd in which you suggested to invite Professor Einstein as one of your speakers to the “political refugee banquet” which will take place early in May.
I have taken up the matter with Prof. Einstein. He was very much interested in your idea. He regrets, however, very much that he is unable to accept your invitation. He wishes me to say that he sincerely hopes your banquet will be a great success and will help to collect some funds for those who are being compelled to leave Nazi countries.
