Dear Folks -

Typed transcription of page 1 of letter………………….
Such excitement as there was last night! The Juniors and Sophomores in Raymond gave a “stunt” party for the Freshman, and it was more fun. It was a kind of play entitled, “The Jolly Junior,” and opened by a scene at the Inn where “Take offs” of Louise Hooker, Val Atherton, and Beatrice Owens were talking and eating. They were so good we all screamed at them. In a few minutes, “Lilias” came in, and danced around as is her wont, and then a whole lot more “take-offs” - I among them - Elsa Hasbrouck “did” me, and she she was simply perfect - much

better than Ruth Taulor at Junior Party, because she knows me so much better - that she knows all my tricks. She was clad in my black skirt, the “non-dirtiable” waist, and the gay sweater, and had her hair done just like mind, with a peak on top! She had a book and a couple of note-books in the crook of her arm, and carried a black muff. She hopped wildly around at first yelling that “Sister Jean was coming,” and then every once in so often she’d give her book a “hike,” just the way I do. I laughed at her till I was perfectly [weak]; everybody

thought she was much the best take-off of anybody. After the performance, I just tracked her around I was so fascinated by her, and when I was dancing the Virginia Reel with her, every time I’d look [unreadable], she was standing just like me, and doing the very same things with her hands. It was positively uncanny! They had some cunning Scotch and Dutch Dances in the play and of course plenty of local “[info].” The whole thing was really very clever, and was carried out awfully well.
Friday night there was a lecture on “Maeterlinck and Symbolism” that was awfully interes-

ting - next week I think we are to have a concert - I hope we have something nice when Helen is here.
I know Jean must be having a fun time at [Ibb’s]:- I was sorely tempted to “let on” I was a Senior and go down to the Alumnae Luncheon and see her. But Miss Taylor saw her, I guess, and so I’ll get her to give me a detailed description.
I told you most [of] the news on Friday in Gran’s letter, so I guess there is no more -- oh yes! Beatrice Fox (who lives at Haverford and goes to Miss Bennett’s school near here) came over from there yesterday afternoon and brought three damsels with her, who

wanted to see “Vassar,” so I did the “personally conducted” for them and enjoyed it immensely, and also burst with pride. They thought everything was “perfectly lovely,” of course, and wanted to know if we had spreads every night just as the girls do in books!
Well, I really think that is all.
Lots of love to all. Brother Bill I’ll write you very soon.

As Ever Lovingly
Marjorie

P.S. Don’t bother to send me any allowance this week, I have such a big balance, I lost my pocket-book, and found it again - [unreadable] the $1.20 extra!
