Biographical Note

Doris Ballenberg Newman was a member of the Vassar College Class of 1935. She served on the student newspaper, the Miscellany News, from 1931-1932.

Scope and Content Note

The collection contains correspondence, clippings, ephemera, and poetry from Ballenberg's time as a student at Vassar College. Includes two poems by "Betty" and "Muriel." "Muriel" may be Muriel Rukeyser, VC 1934, but it may also be Muriel Fox, VC 1935. All three served on the Miscellany News, but because the poems are undated it is difficult to determine the authorship. "Betty" may be Elizabeth Brown, VC 1935, Muriel Fox's freshman roommate.
