June 9, '67.
My darling Mother.
Thinking that perhaps you would like to hear from
your daughter once more while at V.G. I have deeided "to pen you a few
lines." Isn't it elegant? only one more Sunday at Vassar before we go
home.
The weather is so very changeable, Friday it was very warm but
yesterday and today it seems more like winter than summer- Mr. Vassar
invited us all out to Springside to spend yesterday afternoon on his grounds
aad furnished very nice refreshments we thought he was very kind, as
Mary and myself had been there before we thought we could not spend the
time to go again and consequently remained in room 49. Last week was
remarkably gay for us, Thursday afternoon Mr. Wright came over and
took four of us to ride. I believe we went about 12 miles in all and had an
elegant time. Friday evening some gentlemen from Po'keepsie serenaded us
which was very fine and lastly I was elected Recording Secretary of Chapter
Alpha for next year (how proud you must feel of your daughter at Vassar?)
I was very glad to hear in Annie's letter yesterday that (what will I call him?)
Laurence was a fine looking little fellow for you know that I am very fond of
good looking young gentlemen. Last night we all had the pleasure of dream-
ing over some wedding cake but we cannot tell as yet, what our fate will be.
I threw out the name of the person whose picture I sent home in one of

Annie's letters. I was Intending to write to father today but I guess I
have written everything to you. Hoping to see you very soon I sign myself
your loving Lillie.
