Dear Family.-

Typed transcription page 1…..
It’s been particularly wintry here the last few days - we have worn winter coats and furs, and there’s been freezing cold. Yesterday we had our first hockey match - 1910 [vs.] [us], and of course we got licked but we made the “first goal of the Season” anyhow! We are now perfectly convinced that even 1912 will beat us, and then we shall be eternally disgraced.
Friday afternoon Miss McCabe had a party for the grand-daughters in her parlor, and it was so nice. The new Fresh-man granddaughters seem very nice. You would have laughed to see Mary [unreadable] - who is secretary - arriving. She had on a perfectly stiff white dress that [stuck] out all round her and her hair [stuck] out all round [too], and she was carrying a perfect tome of a Secretary’s book - she looked too funny.
In the evening we had an organ recital by a wonderful blind organist from London. He was perfectly wonderful. Don’t know when I’d gone to a concert I enjoyed more.
Last night was Junior Party so we ran around and [turned] [over] 1910 and 1912’s beds, and then some of us went to Main to a party in Billy Balph’s room. It was a lovely Hallowe’en Party with “pumpkins” and apples on strings, and cider and doughnuts “ad infinitum”. We told ghost stories afterwards and nearly petrified ourselves. Most of us spent the night in Main - [having] [unreadable] ourselves [to] the use of various unoccupied couches.
Today is a glorious, cold, wintry day. Lilias has [deported] to West Point for the Princeton-West Point [game] and a Hop. [Heard] about the score of the [game]]? 0-0 is rather exciting prospect for the Yale game, isn’t it?
Everybody is inquiring when “Sister Jean” is coming up - in fact Miss Wilkins never thinks of letting an opportunity slip. Tell Jean she’d better come on.
Your letters are nice. I’m glad you’re gay. Tell [Logan] not [to] wear his dress-suit [out] - it’ll have to do for Founders in May.
Lots of love
