Dear Family:-
It is the snowiest day today you ever saw, and my new galoshes are quite it. Lilias has been in the Infirmary once Thursday with the jaundice but she is coming out today. This morning we had such an interesting preacher -- Dr. Bliss, president of the College at Beirut, Syria, and he talked to us about the college. This evening he is going to tell us about the Regeneration of Turkey, and it ought to be very interesting. Friday I went to dinner with Katherine Baugh, and had a very nice time; and Saturday Billy Balph came to dinner here. She is a friend of [unreadable] [Carrolis], and she and [unreadable] [agree] in loathing Miss Leach. Jean will remember the little (?) [rat] that dear Abby wears in her hair; well, [unreadable] and Billy have made up the following conversation between a priest and a nun:
“Holy Father, I cannot sleep here tonight.”
“Why not, my daughter?”
“Because there are rats in the abbey!”
I played basketball Friday, a kind of mixed-up game with some who could and some who couldn’t play, and it was perfectly killing. I enjoyed it a lot, though.
We have all been wildly writing Narration Stories, and I attempted to write up the [incident] of Pat [Hasbrouck] and Harry Hooker and the House of Refuge, but it’s so stupid, I almost fell asleep over it when I was writing it.
Miss McCabe stopped me the other day, and asked me if somebody in Phila. [Philadelphia] couldn’t ask Miss Taylor to stay with [them] for the alumnae luncheon! She says the [unreadable]’s have asked Mr. and Mrs. Prexy, but that Miss Taylor can’t afford to go without an [unreadable]. [Jo] and I’d ask Jean about it, and Miss McC [McCabe] of course made me promise eternal secrecy. I was afraid neither Jean nor Carol could do it, but if they might get the bee buzzing!!
I do wish there was some news, for this letter is horribly stupid, but we all just work. A week from Monday - [sigh]! Sympathies are now in order!
I might just as well stop as bore you all longer.
Lots of love to all
As Ever
