Dearest Mamie
Got a flunk in Algebra. I’d rather you wouldn’t tell Eloise as in the course of time I’ll take a re-exam and get through if possible. I can’t decide how I feel about it yet. To tell the truth I hate it so I have very little else in the way of feeling to throw away on it. I don’t think it will spoil the rest of my vacation which
up to this time has been very pleasant. I stay in bed as late as I please in the morning and eat crackers and tea if I get hungry before lunch.
Yesterday afternoon Mary and I each purchased some white tucked lawn and some plain white, and we are making some awfully dainty little stocks, which will cost about 8 cents apiece! And they look perfectly sweet with the turnovers you and Edio sent me.
In the evening I
went to the organ recital and took Miss Whitlock as Mary was too tired to go. It was perfectly beautiful! And Miss W. isn’t half so bad when you get her away from Mrs. SHe smiled twice at the table the day after her mother left, and looks happier all the time.
I have just come from Dr Thelberg who vaccinated me. She is at her house in town now which is very pretty and where she lives with Dr Kimball another love of mine. Dr K is a remarkably interesting woman. She was a missionary for ten years in Armenia and was driven out because she cured so many people the Armenians tried to massacre. Of course the vaccinating didn’t hurt any, but my leg feels sort of queer with a big rubber protector over the spot. I bet it won’t take.
Farewell
Peg
Forgot to say I am reduced to 8 cents and would like some more soon
Isn’t Pax’s story queer. It sounds to me something like that little book Mrs Judah lent you -- I can’t remember it’s name. It certainly is well written but frightfully Paxish and unconventional.
I simply must speak of how beautiful the mountains are these windy grey days. They are a deep rich blue and you just can’t keep your eyes off them.
