Dear Mother -
Of course you know I arrived O.K. having met Priscilla at the Information Stand in Grand Central as we had planned. There were very few people on the train, and I was more than glad that I came up this a.m. I managed to get my check seen to, and room found etc. just in time to go in
to lunch, and this p.m. I had a grand old unpacking. I “settled” my room this afternoon, and unpacked my steamer truck tonight. My room seems so light that I decided to keep my mission furniture after all - and buy only a mirror. Quarters this year in a two-by-once single are rather different
from last year’s palatial suite. In spite of the fact that I haven’t any place to put anything, I have become quite comfortably fixed, and I do hop things will stay as neat as they are now until you come up next week. Tomorrow I am going to buy curtains and door-block, and little
things like that.
IT seems mighty nice to have all ‘14 together here in Main. We were serenaded tonight as “Seniors”, and it certainly was queer to think that term really applied to us. Chapel tonight with Prey’s little welcome - speech was very nice - one very funny thing
happened - he forgot the Lord’s Prayer in the middle and the congregation ended without him.
Everyone seems to like my hat - it’s a good sight better-looking than some I’ve seen, too, and no mistake.
I haven’t actually located my dishes yet, but the Mr. Express-man said
he was fairly certain I have a box downstairs - and will look it up for me in the a.m.
I’m dead-tired, so will say bye-bye -
Love to all -
Muriel.
