Miss Ida P. Whitman
Your note of the 30ilUlt. came to hand, and I
avail myself of the first leisure moments, after a temporary illness,
to reply.
With regard to a situation as teacher in my contemplated
"Female College11, I can only say at the present time that your applica-
tion will be handed over to the President, Prof Milo Pe Jewett, to file
in the archives of the institution, to be refered to again at the proper
time; but it would appear from your note that you misunderstood the
time of opening the college, for the reception of pupils. The corner
stone, of the building is not yet laid, and frora the magnitude of the whole
structures, will require three to four years to complete them.
Due notice will be given when the institution is ready for the
acception of pupils &c; when if you please (or before) you can address
the President on this, or other subjects, connected with its business.
Yours truly &c. M Vassar
