Dear Family-
The [best] piece of news is that Val has returned to the fold! She was away a whole week, and we nearly did without her; but she’s back now and we’re [unreadable] to hang on to her!
Wednesday afternoon Becky Watson and Caroline and I went to Mary Taylor’s and had a fine time as usual. Thursday night we had a lovely [time]; Jean, Terry and Caroline exchanged clothes and I asked Elizabeth [Storey] over [we’ve] exchanged clothes too, for we are supposed to look like each other. Friday afternoon, the Granddaughters had a tea in Senior Parlor and it was one of the nicest I’ve ever gone to. Yesterday was Caroline birthday, and we had the party in our room this time and everybody brought their [narrative] stories, and read them -- it was lots of fun. We made fudge -- which wasn’t good, but we ate it nevertheless. Today Frances [Cutler] is coming to dinner with me, and I am having to hear all the Bangor scandal! Anna is visiting in [Brookline] now, so I don’t get Bangor news from her.
The maids gave the “[District] School” over at the Clubhouse, and it was awfully good. It was so popular, they had to give 3 performances instead of 2! Irene, the elevator girl in Raymond, was fine as Jeremiah [unreadable] -- one of the bad little boys. Ruth Presley [trains] them and she deserves a lot of credit. Jean will remember her as “[unreadable]” in “Road to Yesterday” -- the the villain. Tell Jean Katherine Taylor showed me the lovely letter she wrote her [so] I am much obliged. She doesn’t yet know when she’s coming! I got Grandma’s nice letter and Logans too -- and I am quite as much in the dark about Bob [unreadable] as he is.
News is exhausted so farewell. We are counting the days, hours and minutes till we go home. The travelling [slips] are in, so we are expecting the [trunks] [down] any minute and then fun really begins.
Caroline said the next time I wrote to send her love to you, so here it is.
Lovingly
Marjorie
