Jean’s letter about the cherry blossoms made me envious but today is such a perfect spring day that I have gotten over it! We have had some glorious days this week interspersed with rain, of course, and the campus is getting lovely and green and [soft]-looking, and many bunches of “students” may be seen lying around on the grass or meandering around. It looks so perfect [before] chapel now, when it is light and everybody has on their dresses. The leaves here are just barely beginning but with a
few more days like today they will “pop.” We had a nice sermon this morning, and the music was quite good but it was tantalizing to catch glimpses of the perfect Spring day outside.
Yesterday Ellen Eayrs took four of us out for a drive -- Lilias, and Frances Osborne and Virginia Hale (J [Jean] will remember her as Julia Searing’s Senior pal) and me, and we had the loveliest time. It rained and [unreadable] alternately but we weren’t troubled by that in the least, and giggled and sang and acted generally silly as much as we pleased.
Last night was the Students’ Elections which came out grandly,
that is, as grandly for President as was possible, for 1909 has no body like [unreadable] Babbott. Here are the officers if you are interested
President - Constance Body, 1909
V. [Vice] President - Lillian Todd, 1909
Treasurer - Eunice avery, 1910
Secretary - Julia Lovejoy, 1911
I ran for Secretary, but didn’t get it, of course, and I am perfectly satisfied.
Next week we go to Moore’s Mills, and we are thinking now of driving out on Friday morning. I hope we’ll have good weather. This has been an uninteresting week, for it was “six weeks written” week, and everybody was busy.
I am awaiting the box of
clothes from Maddie. She wrote me she was going to send them Thursday, so they ought ot be her tomorrow.
