My dear Mra Hale
For some months last past my thoughts have at in-
tervals been occupied with the idea of adopting a uni-
formity of Costume for the pupils attending V. F.
CollegeThe object of which is first, to prevent jeal-
ousy which usually arise in the minds of young persons
in the articles of DressSecondly to secure more com-
fort and convenience to them, while in School or at
their playfull recreations. Your fertile mind will
readily suggest what there should betheir make and
materialsomething that will be desirable, least need-
full of repeating washings repair &ca, and to consist
of something like the " Bloomer Dress " which would
give freedom to their persons whether in School or out
of School for exercise. Will you please to take this
matter into considerations and at your early conven-
ience inform meOf course these garments are only
for School house and need not be expensive so that they
will be available to all the pupilswith those sugges-
tions, I am persuaded you can readily fill up
the rest.
I remain Dear Madame
Yours very respectfully
