Dearest Daddykins,
Did you think you had been deserted by your youngest daughter? I simply haven’t had time to write until to day. Well, Vassar is great. I think sister told you all about Mrs Whitlock didn’t she, and about how nice my room is. There are some very
nice girls here too. There is a Miss Gowry of New York who is very attractive. The most interesting girl is Miss Alberta Wandel of Brooklyn, but she is to get on the campus very soon. Then there is an awfully nice girl, Miss Grace Parrott, from Elizabeth N. J. and a sweet delicate girl, Grace Norcross from Atlanta Georgia. A Miss Starr and some body else from Richmond
seem quite nice and the rest are just so-so. I have met three awfully nice girls who live at Mrs Norris’s next door.
On Friday evening I went to chapel. It was very beautiful and impressive to see so many girls together. The music was fine and Dr Taylor was very good.
Last night I went to a reception at the college, gave for the freshmen by the faculty, and I met Dr Taylor and just slews of girls, most of them awfully nice. Everyone is just as nice and kind to freshman as can be and tell you everything you want to know. Mrs Kendrick, the Lady-Principal is just as sweet as she can be.
This morning we went to Chapel and heard an excellent sermon by Dr Taylor. I think he is very very nice. He only
preaches twice a year so the chapel was crowded as everyone wished to hear him. Everyone seems to be very fond of him
I have seen Bessie Baker several times and she has been awfully nice. I talked to Miss Hadley for some time yesterday. She is president of the Senior Class you know and it is quite an honor
to know her.
To day I met the Miss Honeycutt of whom Mrs Snow told me, and she asked me to supper to night, and to the Sophomore dance you must know that it is the desire of all Freshmen to be asked to this function as it is quite an occasion.
My room is beginning to look very pretty since I have begun to fix it up.
I got the letter and the package that you forwarded to me. They were from Ruth, a long letter and a lovely little stick pin for a graduating present. Just like Ruth wasn’t it to send it in September.
Have you seen Eloise? How are she and Natalie? I have a perfectly ravenous appetite all the time and thank goodness the things to eat are splendid. I think I have already gained several pounds since I left home.
Tomorrow we are classified and have lessons to prepare for Tuesday -- Oh me! -- Then the work begins!!
Well bye bye
With slews of love from your small girl
Margaret.
