Saturday night
Dearest Mamie
My trunk came very promptly Tuesday morning and I spent the day unpacking and cleaning out drawers and my closet. I got a note from Eloise saying she was coming, and sure enough she did on Wednesday afternoon. I have had a perfectly lovely time with her. She was so sweet
and brought me some eats and some dear little Japanese lanterns to hang up in my room. She was perfectly delighted with college and with the girls. She dined once at the “Inn,” once in Main with Bertha Ellis, once at Mrs Whitlocks where we stayed all night one night and twice at Smith’s. She went with me to skate, to call on Miss Rogers, and to a debate in arg class. It
broke my heart to see her go this afternoon. She’ll be over to see you I guess and will tell you herself what she thought of people and things -- then you can tell me. To console myself for her departure, I came back from the station and skated for two solid hours. Then I ate a big dinner, went to chapel, and now! I’m so sleepy I can just -- just barely hold my head up.
Rudge and Bunny are just so sweet as ever. They were both so nice to Eloise. Rudge’s father has promised her a trip west this summer, and of course she will come and visit me, I want her to come right after college closes when there will be some parties and things. Well I’ll write another installment to morrow -- byebye.

Well, I’ve been just as sleepy as anything all day long -- I think it must be on account of staying up late so many nights while I was at home.
I’ve found out when the next hall play is to be -- February 21. Will you be coming that soon?
Polly’s mother sent me two lovely handkerchiefs
and I have just written a note to her. Also one to aunt [Bunny], and half a one to aunt Lide.
I’m going to have to work as I never worked before these next two weeks, so don’t be surprised if you get snippy epistles. I’ve just got to dig.
I must say farewell now
