Dearest May Louise
I’ve just sent off my Senior Parlor invitations to Misses Mann and [Goodrich] respectively and I feel altogether grand. This afternoon I took Frances to call on her advisor -- Miss Mann is having a day at home this year -- and I was so proud of them both I didn’t
know what to do. Frances is crazy about Miss Mann and I’m sure Miss Mann was ever so pleased with Frances. We stayed about an hour, and then Frances took me to Smith’s to dinner -- and oh yes : -- Kris just raved about my new suit. I told her it was all on you.
Has Marian gone yet? By the way, weren’t you going to ask Mrs Robbins
to allow Charles to come to the Philalethean Dance -- it comes on the day after Thanksgiving, so if you’re going to do anything about it, ‘twill have to be pretty soon.
Did I tell you that we are going to have a miniature political campaign here this fall -- mass meetings, voting a la Australian ballot, and all ? Won’t it be fun -- only I can’t decide which to vote for, Parker or Roosevelt! Two or three of the girls went up to Esopus one day last week, saw Judge Parker’s house, and were suddenly seized with the idea of what [larks] it would be to see the Judge himself, so what did they do but ring the bell, and ask the maid to ask him to come out and see them! He did, and he saw the joke perfectly, took them round his
“place,” showed them his garden, and was altogether as pleasant as could be to them, I fancy those particular girls will vote for Parker -- but then there’s no issue in the campaigne anyway, but the personalities of the two candidates.
It is now a quarter past nine and I have lots to do tomorrow so
guess I’d better go to bed. Mr Brown, that Indiana authority on birds whom Helen Gould has taken under her wing lately, is going to lecture here tomorrow night -- I’ll be interested to hear him. I’ve seen several new birds since I came back
Slews of love
