Your letter of the 13th received. For several reasons I have had my interest in Vassar College. 1st Because of its narrow sectarianism I hear the liberal element has been

rejected without thanks. Hence I feel no interest in the success of an institution that can thus insult womanhood collectively and individually. If I were one of the alumnae; until the ruling principles of the institution are essentially

slowly weeded out, and Baptist Professors installed.
2nd the last chair endowed was on the condition that no woman should fill it.
3rd. I sent a copy of the History of Woman Suffrage as a gift to the Library, which was

liberalized. I should make no effort to preserve its life It is falling behind the progress of the age, and in the nature of things cannot live.
