Dear Friend
Your letter to Miss Anthony surprises [sic] me because we are members of an Association is our individuality swallowed up in that association. We are speaking for the cause of woman. Mr. Train is doing the same. We are satisfied that he is a pure minded noble man who neither smoke chews drinks gambols his [stealz] or swears. And an ardent and eloquent advocate of our idea. Now you must suppose we lack common sense to drop the only influential man in the nation who is ready to stand by our guns. No! no! I love the cause of woman too well. to reject such a power. I shall not forget how, our reformers have stultified themselves in the past on this question how, in our constitutional convention, not one leading man in the state plead
