Dear Rachel,
I have received your two messages and hasten to relieve your little soul by saying that I did write a hasty letter with a bird’s eye view of the Con. And made honorable mention of our secretary. I trust Phoebe’s ready to fill Susan’s appointments as it’s very important for Susan to remain here

Keep on with your election and may a splendid orator too, and then you can fill every niche. I have great hopes hanging on you Phoebe Mary Wright and Jennie Waite and Julia to push you in every niche you can fill. With kind regards to all. I have laughed to myself thinking that I never knew who you were until I identified your mother that evening at your house. I did not know her the day she called at Miss Thompson’s. Supposed it was the first time I ever saw her. Just think of it, and how suprised [sic] I was when the fact dawned on me.

Susan is writing names and dates for Phoebe. The moment she gets them she better start so as to have a day to rest. Tell her to take care of herself and rest all she can:
Sincerely yours
Elizabeth Cady Stanton
