Dearest Family:-
This has been a fairly quiet weekend, except for the play at the Maid’s Clubhouse given by the maids. It was called “Handsome Hal the Highwayman,” and was a thrilling tale. They really did it remarkably well - were very natural and very pretty. It was given in the Clubhouse, and as the scene was an inn, they used the fireplace as scenery, and had a real fire burning.
Last night Mrs. Atherton and Val and Caroline and I had dinner at the Inn, and it was great fun. Mrs. A. [Atherton] goes tomorrow, alas! She is such a dear. At present
I wish I was going to see you all soon. You’ll hear from me again when I send my Thanksgiving [unreadable]. Eat lots for me, and be as jolly as anything, and don’t drink too much cider.
Lovingly
Marjorie
