Dear Friend Redpath
Your proofs positive that Mrs. Stanton is pledged to your engagements from or after Jan. 25th 1870 adhere-—and I have letter-—St. Louis 28th Dec. says she is coming east for the Washington Convention the 19 and 20 of Jan - - And also I write Mr. Carter that your engagement must prevail over his. - I told him Dec. 10th to communicate with you at once and see that there should be no collision-—for my impression was that Mrs. was pledged to you after the Washington Convention -
