The Caroline Furness Papers consist
of correspondence, personal and professional papers, writings, research, and
photographs created and assembled by American astronomer and Vassar faculty member
Caroline E. Furness. Notable correspondents include Furness’s father, Henry B.
Furness; Vassar faculty member Mary W. Whitney; Kan'ichi Asakawa; Sakusaburo
Uchigasaki; Rose O'Neill; Vilhjalmur Stefansson; and other astronomers, including
Jan van der Bilt, Phoebe Waterman Haas, and Ruth E. Smith.

Post's diaries as well as correspondence to Post after his tenure at Vassar College.

The collection contains drafts of a manuscript by Christabel Fiske entitled . Also included is an essay on Henry James's and a letter to a potential publisher.

Correspondence, music scores, manuscript, typescripts, audio tape, biographical materials, concert programs, and clippings relating to the life and professional career of Clair Leonard.

Materials relating to Raymond's life as the daughter of a Vassar College president, a Vassar student, administrator of the College, and unofficial historian. Also included is information about the years she spent as a grade school teacher.

This collection includes 3,538 glass plate negatives created by photographer Edmund L. Wolven. Most of the images are of Vassar College people, events, buildings and grounds, but there is a subset that relates to Poughkeepsie and other local educational institutions.

Correspondence, diaries, manuscripts
and typescripts, newspaper clippings, travel documents, legal and financial papers,
family papers, photographs, printed materials and miscellaneous items relating to
the life and work of Eloise Ellery. There is also significant collection of items
which belonged to Frank Ellery.

Two photograph albums and five scrapbooks. The photographs are of Vassar faculty and Wood's house, "Homewood."

Materials relating to the life and work of the noted composer and Vassar College professor of music.

The collection consists of notes
taken by Genieve Lamson, Vassar College Professor of Geography 1922-1952, during her
undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago. Also included are academic
papers written by Vassar students attending Lamson's classes.

Letters from George Sherman Dickinson to Oliver M. Sayler and Joan Stambaugh. Also includes three letters from Bess Dickinson to Sayler.

Papers primarily concerning Flanagan's teaching and theater activities at Vassar College and her work with the Federal Theater Project. Includes correspondence, curriculum materials, scripts and other play records, reports, speeches, programs, playbills, photographs, scrapbooks, and clippings.

Papers pertaining to her interest in folk dances and singing games including her arrangements of music scores for dances, a notebook containing descriptions of folk dances and a glossary to dance positions, and sheet music and dance instructions she used in classes, 1881-1916, including works by Elizabeth Burchenal and Louis H. Chalif.

Papers reflect her personal and
professional life and include travel diaries and notes, manuscripts and published
versions of her articles and stories on China, Russia, Tahiti, Abyssinia, Djibouti,
and the Red Sea slave trade, 1928-1967; correspondence with her two of her three
husbands, Paul Vaillant-Couturier and Andre Bergeret; letters from Wolfgang Wolff
written from Tahiti, 1934-1939; correspondence with her literary agent Marie Rodell,
1965-1967, and with the and other publishers
and editors; 86 letters from her friend Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, 1926-1952, and
correspondence, contracts, and royalty statements, 1968, pertaining to Chardin's
book , 1926-1952; notes,
clippings, and scrapbooks concerning her experiences in London during World War II,
1943-1945; manuscripts and publications by other authors; letters and articles of
Simone and Max Begonen; and family and personal photographs.

Personal and professional papers relating to Taylor's tenure as President of Vassar College as well as his larger interests in education and religion. Includes correspondence, manuscripts, clippings, photographs, articles, and certificates.

One scrapbook, one diary, and a number of letters and manuscripts relating to Orton's education and his family. The scrapbook contains clippings of Orton's writings about his early explorations of South America, with annotations presumed to be by Orton himself.

Correpondence and other material documenting Wylie's work, health, travels, and family; as well as her friendships with Fanny Borden, Fanny Hart, Mrs. Nathan S. Hart, and Nina Katherine Hart; her career at Vassar College, and her relationship with Gertrude Buck.

Sketches of faculty members and campus scenes and sketchbooks produced throughout Rubenstein's career at Vassar, and two copies of his film "Time Painting."

The Lucy Maynard Salmon Collection
includes the personal papers of Lucy Maynard Salmon along with two smaller collections
of papers belonging to her mother, Maria Clara Maynard Salmon, and her brother, Pomeroy L. Salmon. The materials relate
to her work as an historian and professor at Vassar College as well as her work with
the suffrage movement and local political issues. There are also materials relating
to her family, education and personal life. Formats include correspondence,
manuscripts, printed material, clippings, minutes, reports, notes, and
photographs.
