The collection consists of Beatrice Cosmey's memoirs of her travels and teaching experience in India through correspondence from Beatrice Cosmey to her family and friends, as well as a scrapbook.

The remainder of the collection consists of published works by Millay or material about her life and career, such as her involvement in the Sacco-Vanzetti case, and includes photographs, articles, clippings, reviews, programs.

The collection contains material related to Elizabeth Cady Stanton's work for women's suffrage, abolition, temperance, and other social causes. Includes family and professional correspondence, biographical and autobigraphical material, transcripts of her speeches, and photographs. Also includes material by others, such as her daughter, Margaret Stanton Lawrence, about the women's movement and Stanton's life and career.

The Eugene A. Carroll Papers document Carroll's academic career as an art historian, curator, writer, as well as his involvement as executor of the William K. Rose estate. The papers contain professional and personal correspondence and include letters documenting Carroll's relationship with his partner, William K. Rose, during the 1960s. The W.K. Rose material also includes photographic prints, travel journals, a limited volume of subject files and writings by Rose, and one audio tape interview. The Carroll Papers contain subject files, including teaching and research reference materials, travel files, datebooks, writings by Carroll, correspondence with colleagues, friends, and Rose, as well as a limited volume of correspondence from Carroll to his parents. Holdings also include journals, photographic prints, and documentation regarding the management of the Rose estate and Vassar's W.K. Rose fellowship.

Papers reflect her personal and professional life and include travel diaries and notes, manuscripts and published versions of her articles and stories on China, Russia, Tahiti, Abyssinia, Djibouti, and the Red Sea slave trade, 1928-1967; correspondence with her two of her three husbands, Paul Vaillant-Couturier and Andre Bergeret; letters from Wolfgang Wolff written from Tahiti, 1934-1939; correspondence with her literary agent Marie Rodell, 1965-1967, and with the and other publishers and editors; 86 letters from her friend Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, 1926-1952, and correspondence, contracts, and royalty statements, 1968, pertaining to Chardin's book , 1926-1952; notes, clippings, and scrapbooks concerning her experiences in London during World War II, 1943-1945; manuscripts and publications by other authors; letters and articles of Simone and Max Begonen; and family and personal photographs.

One scrapbook, one diary, and a number of letters and manuscripts relating to Orton's education and his family. The scrapbook contains clippings of Orton's writings about his early explorations of South America, with annotations presumed to be by Orton himself.

The Jean Webster Papers at the Vassar College Libraries Department of Special Collections are part of the McKinney Family Papers, a collection of papers from the Clemens, Moffett, Webster, and McKinney families. They were donated to Vassar College in 1977, along with the endowment of a chair in American Literature, in honor of Jean Webster. The donors are Jean McKinney Connor, daughter of Jean Webster and Glenn Ford McKinney, and her husband Ralph Connor, a former trustee of Vassar.

Scrapbooks, logbooks, album, diploma, and daguerreotypes, primarily concerning Wheeler's family. Other items include programs from Vassar College events, 1878-1879.
