Vassar College Academic Departments and Programs

The collection consists of administrative records of the Africana Studies Program, primarily correspondence and subject files.

Record books and notebooks, including transit room and dome books containing records of astronomical observations, 1888-1912; variable stars records, 1907-1913; records of observations from the meridian room, 1888-1936; and notebooks from observations, lectures, and studies, some of which were kept by Mary W. Whitney.

Material documenting the history of the Vassar College Drama Department and its many components and programs (including the Experimental Theatre). Includes programs, news clippings, production material, photographs, negatives, slides, and film.

Course materials, annual reports, and
other materials relating to the development of the Vassar College History Department.

General office files, 1895-1952, as well as four volumes including extensive bodily measurements of individual students, with short biographies and health histories, 1890-1899.
