The bulk of the collection consists
of Lowrie's manuscripts of published and unpublished book reviews, 1934-1952. Other
items include correspondence relating to Vassar College, her work as a book
reviewer, responses to her reviews, her health, comments on people and politics,
popular culture, her dogs, and other personal issues. There is also family and
biographical material, her Christmas card collection, and other items.

Correspondence, photographs and miscellaneous papers from Robert E. Middleton, VC Professor of Music 1953-1985.

The collection consists primarily of photographs taken by American photographer Rosalie Thorne "Rollie" McKenna (1918-2003) that document life and events at
Vassar College during the 1950s and 1960s, including contact sheets, negatives, and prints. It also includes photographs taken by
McKenna of Springside National Historic Site, Matthew Vassar's former estate in
Poughkeepsie, as well as correspondence with the National Park Service.

Research materials, sketches, drawings, published materials, and exhibition materials relating to Rosalind Howe’s work as an artist and architectural cartographer as well as professional correspondence, published materials about Howe, and published materials which included Howe’s work.

Photographs, clippings, manuscripts, correspondence, and scrapbooks relating to Clarkson's study and cultivation of herbs.

The photograph album contains images from Ruth Goodkind Calvin's years at Vassar College, as well as her travels across the United States, particularly the American West and the National Parks.

Material relating to Mason's work as a writer and literary agent as well as more personal material regarding her family, friends, marriage and education. Includes, professional and personal correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, postcards, and biographical information; and Eliot F. Bartlett's correspondence and notes regarding these papers.

Personal and professional papers
consisting of correspondence, diaries, notebooks, manuscripts and typescripts,
articles, speeches, financial papers, reports, teaching materials, and photographs.
Correspondents include Franz Boas with whom she studied and worked. Subjects include
American Anthropological Association, Progressive Education Association, West Side
Defense Council (New York City), Council Against Intolerance in America, American
Association of University Women, American Folklore Journal, Mary Wollstonecraft,
Indians of the American Southwest including Pima, Zuni, Dakotas, Sioux, and
Shoshone, civil rights, and Japan and Japanese culture. Other items include her
published and unpublished poetry; grant proposals; correspondence, clippings, and
reports from field work, including her Mescalero trip, 1931-1932; and a draft of
Margaret Mead's .

Includes manuscripts, notes, diaries, clippings, certificates, deeds and photographs; but of particular note are the letters Clemens wrote to his family describing his early adulthood as well as the development and progression of his writing career.

Materials relating to Scottie Fitzgerald Smith's career as a journalist, her work for the Democratic Party, her personal life, and the maintenance of her parents' estates and legacies.

This collection consists of
administrative and financial records, correspondence, and photographs created by
Springside Landscape Restoration, a non-profit organization dedicated to the
preservation and maintenance of Springside--a United States National Historic
Site and the summer home of Matthew Vassar (1792-1868). Publications and
writings about Springside and its designer, landscape architect Andrew Jackson
Downing (1815-1852), as well as records related to Springside from its 20th-century
owners, the Nelson family, are also included.

Papers created by and relating to
Sutematsu Yamakawa Oyama, "Princess Oyama," the first Japanese woman to receive a
college degree.

Includes musical manuscripts of
Carreño and others, such as Edward Macdowell, Amy Beach and Teresita
Carreño-Tagliapietra; literary manuscripts of Carreño; letters to and from Carreño
and to and from Marta Milinowski, her biographer; and a variety of scrapbooks,
diaries and other materials relating to Carreño's life and professional career;
Among the correspondents are Frances Macdowell, Gioachino Rossini, Edward Grieg, and
Ede Poldini. There are also many articles about Carreño and programs of her
concerts.

Materials from various graduating classes including alumnae questionnaires, programs, bulletins, invitations, songbooks, clippings and articles on class members, and some notes and letters, 1867-1981; a reunion survey with photographs of the Class of 1914, 1964; minutes and account books from class organizations, 1871-1922; and correspondence, publications, and miscellaneous items from the Class of 1898.

Materials related to the early years
of the Vassar College Black Studies Program and the student sit-in staged in 1969
for improvements to the program along with other demands relating to the
African-American community both on campus and off.

The collection consists of administrative records of the Africana Studies Program, primarily correspondence and subject files.

An artificial collection of materials
documenting the history of Vassar College, collected by various departments of the
Library over several decades. Materials include letters, photographs, programs,
college circulars and other publications, building specifications, contracts, bills
and receipts, inventories, accounts, committee minutes, architectural and landscape
drawings, reports, and club constitutions and records.

Clippings, biographical information forms, news releases, memoranda, pamphlets, correspondence, photographs, book jackets, and articles. pertaining to the lives and careers of faculty, staff, administrators, trustees, and presidents of the college, as well as alumnae/i and other individuals with a siginificant relation to the development of the college.

Also included are audiovisual materials, including VHS and compact disc recordings of baccalaureate ceremonies; photographs; event flyers and posters; and realia including mugs, t-shirts, and pens.
